Drug and alcohol addictions is a disease that affects many people. Often those who struggle with this disease feel trapped with no way out. They may begin to experience feelings of guilt, problems at work, loss of income, impaired thinking, feelings of remorse, aggressive behavior, and many other damaging results of their chemical dependency. If left untreated drug and alcohol addiction can lead to physical health problems, jail time, and even death.
In addition, we view drug and alcohol addiction as a family disease. It not only affects the addicted individual, but their loved ones as well. We know family members can experience the adverse effects of this disease on their loved. We Strongly encourage family involvement in the recovery process.
At High Desert Counseling, we take a hands-on approach called Replacement Therapy. We acknowledge the disease, the habits caused by the disease, and replace the addictive behavior with appropriate skills and activities that develop a healthy and productive lifestyle. In Addition we use a developmental model of recovery as the framework for organizing the elements of treatment. This model sees recovery as a process of growth, which is divided into interlocking tasks. We view recovery as a process not an event.
Our goal in assisting those who suffer with chemical dependency is to help them through the recovery process. We offer a full spectrum of quality care, compassion, supportive environment, and professionalism. We look forward to helping them find a life of serenity and peace of mind.
